The Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu has been chosen in the top of the list of the 25 most popular places of interest in the awards World TripAdvisor's Travellers' Choice Awards 2016, revealed today.
"We are proud to report that our wonder of the world has received the votes of millions of digital users of TripAdvisor, winning first place in the list of the 25 most popular places in the world interest. Machu Picchu won in preference to other tourist attractions world-class as the Mosque Sheikh Zayed of the United Arab Emirates, the temple Angkor Wat in Cambodia and St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican, "said Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Magali Silva.
Because of the significance of the news, international media such as the Daily Mail UK, the Malay Mail Online Malaysia and La Repubblica of Italy highlighted the historical, natural and cultural importance of the Inca citadel.
TripAdvisor is the site of the world's largest travel with 340 million unique monthly visitors and over 320 million views and comments on more than 4.9 million accommodations, restaurants and attractions.
The top ten list of the 25 most popular places of interest of the world complete the Taj Mahal (India), the Mosque of Cordoba (Spain), the Church of the Savior on Blood (Russia), Alhambra (Spain ), the Reflecting pool from the Lincoln Memorial (United States) and Doumo Milan (Italy).
