During the first quarter of this year the Colca Valley, located in Arequipa, received 52,701 tourists, including domestic and foreign, exceeding by more than 25 percent over the same period of 2015, said the manager of the Autonomous Authority of Colca Mr. Dennis Salazar.
The tourist influx during the first three months of the year also brought significant income to the Autocolca, an entity that manages the tourist ticket that is paid to enter this natural and tourist center of the Arequipa region.
According to figures from Autocolca, tourists from Lima, Trujillo, Cusco, Puno, Tacna, Moquegua and abroad are most interested in the Colca Valley and take advantage of the long holidays to visit.
The Colca Valley is located in the province of Caylloma, four hours from the city of Arequipa. In the area visitors can enjoy the natural beauty, colonial architecture, as well as the customs and culture of its people.
