The United Nations General Assembly has approved the designation of 2017
as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism Development. With this
proclamation, It’s recognized the
importance of sustainable tourism destinations for the advancement of peoples
and the enhancement of heritage and culture.
The resolution, adopted on December 4, recognizes "the importance of
international tourism and in particular the appointment of an international
year of sustainable tourism development, to promote better understanding among
peoples everywhere, lead to you take a greater awareness of the rich
heritage of various civilizations and lead to a better appreciation of the
inherent values of different cultures, thus contributing to strengthening
peace in the world, "said Taleb Rifai.
The tourism figure on the goals of three of the ODS: to promote sustained,
inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and
decent work for all; and sustainable consumption and conserve and
sustainably use oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development
production.
