Peru is been promoting as destination in the public transport of Vienna





A promotional video about Machu Picchu and Peru brand was displayed, from 9 to 13 February, on 739 screens in the main metro stations, buses, trains and trams in Vienna as part of the strategy of Tourism the Embassy of Peru in Austria.

At a rate of 7 minutes per day, and during those dates, Viennese and visitors in this city appreciated the "Peru: land of hidden treasures" campaign. It is estimated that during the days of the broadcast, the video reached three and a half million visual contacts.

The initiative aimed to position Peru as a preferred destination and safe for the Austrian economy, whereas national interest coincide with their preferences for nature, history and adventure. It is hoped that this campaign will help increase the growing tendency of Austrian travelers to our country.

The development of the video had the support of PromPeru and was conceived for presentation at the public transport system, which is used by hundreds of thousands of users daily. Austria receives about 27 million tourists annually.

2017 will be the "International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development"




The United Nations General Assembly has approved the designation of 2017 as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism Development. With this proclamation,  It’s recognized the importance of sustainable tourism destinations for the advancement of peoples and the enhancement of heritage and culture.


The resolution, adopted on December 4, recognizes "the importance of international tourism and in particular the appointment of an international year of sustainable tourism development, to promote better understanding among peoples everywhere, lead to you take a greater awareness of the rich heritage of various civilizations and lead to a better appreciation of the inherent values ​​of different cultures, thus contributing to strengthening peace in the world, "said Taleb Rifai.

The tourism figure on the goals of three of the ODS: to promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all; and sustainable consumption and conserve and sustainably use oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development production.

Peru was chosen as Best Culinary World Destination




In the global edition of the World Travel Awards (WTA) 2015, Peru was chosen as Best World culinary destination. Which they are considered the Oscar of tourism. The announcement was unveiled during the gala ceremony on Saturday 12th at the Mazagan Beach Resort in El Jadida, Morocco port city.

Peru won against China, Australia, Spain, USA, France, India, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico and Thailand. It’s a distinction that adds to the awards that our country has also won Best culinary destination in South America in the regional editions of the World Travel Awards 2015.

"The World Travel Awards (WTA) have 22 years of experience. They recognize and celebrate excellence in all sectors of the tourism and travel industry worldwide. For Best Culinary World Destination was created four years ago and, since then, Peru has been the only winner of this award, "said the head of Mincetur.

These awards are in addition to the one granted to Central Restaurant, Peruvian chef Virgilio Martinez, who ranked first in the list of the 50 Best Restaurants in Latin America 2015.

Meet the 5 cities more visited by airway in Peru




The operator International Airport Lima Airport Partners, reveals that the cities most visited by foreigners were Cusco, Arequipa, Piura, Iquitos (Loreto) and Tarapoto (San Martín) for second consecutive year.

These cities received a total of 1 million 540 thousand 36 passengers between January and July 2015, which represented an increase of 11.9% in passengers compared to the previous year for these cities. In the same period the Jorge Chavez international airport received more than 9 million passengers, representing an increase of 8.9% nationally. Passengers on international and domestic departures increased by 6, 7 and 11 percent respectively.

Locally, many Peruvians preferred destinations like Santiago, Miami, Bogota, Madrid and Panama, with more than eight hundred thousand travelers on direct international flights, which represents 45% of total passengers registered.

Tourists from Chile, US, France, Spain the most loyal to Peru


Tourists from Chile, the United States, France and Spain are the most loyal to Peru, with visits increasing last year despite the international financial crisis that hit this activity worldwide, stated Tuesday Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur).
“While tourism decreased worldwide last year, the arrival of tourists from Chile, the US, France and Spain kept increasing, since they regard Peru as an unmissable destination worth visiting,” said Deputy Tourism Minister, Mara Seminario.
She highlighted that during the global financial crisis, South American tourists preferred a closer destination and visited Machu Picchu, one of the new world’s seven wonders.
Besides, Spanish and French tourists decided to continue with their plans of visiting Peruvian destinations because they praise culture value.
According to a Mincetur’s report based on the data from Peruvian General Directorate of Immigration and Naturalization (Digemin), Peru received last year 2 million 23,967 foreign tourists, a 3.9% growth.
