Machu Picchu nominated to National Geographic Traveller Awards

The complex of Machu Picchu was nominated for a prize in the National Geographic Traveller Reader Awards. The Inca citadel is postulated in the "Overseas Attraction" or Attracting Overseas.

Machu Picchu competes in the category with the Grand Canyon National Park in Colorado, located in the northern state of Arizona, in the United States, and the Australian Great Barrier Reef, the largest coral reef in the world.

The Inca citadel, one of the seven wonders of the world, was inscribed on the World Heritage List of UNESCO in 1983 and is considered the most amazing urban creation of the Inca Empire and one of the most important heritage sites on the planet.

Prizes will be awarded later this month in the city of London, and will appear in the January-February edition of National Geographic Traveller magazine.
