The tourist flow to Machu Picchu rose by 25% over the last three months of the year, from 2,500 to 3,100 daily visitors allowed on average. In this way the current carrying capacity is exceeded to date.

In this regard, the head of the Archaeological Park of Machu Picchu, Fernando Astete said that this increase has been the problems of insecurity in Europe and other parts of the world. "Foreigners will prefer destinations in South America and especially in Cusco" he said.

The official explained that to prevent the massive income generated strong pressure in the citadel is still being distributed to tourists on the three routes within the Inca complex: urban, mountain Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu mountain and Intipunku (zone entry Inca Trail).

He added that it will help tourism services not collapse when in operation Chinchero International Airport, which will double the number of visitors. They are alternatives to be evaluated in Espiritupampa sites in Vilcabamba, Choquequirao in Santa Teresa, among other resorts.
